Here I am, writing the next great movie! Okay, this photo was staged. But I am sure I was thinking about something really important here. I find writing to be necessary--a creative, often cathartic force in my life. I find a lot of joy in putting words together, and I love generating stories that make people feel something. I like creating connections on a literary and emotional level. Telling stories is an essential part of who we all are.
I've been writing since I was a kid, and have published poetry, short fiction, blogs, and web content. I've written the feature screenplays 38 MINUTES, DODGERS and BIRTH, and the short films DATE STORIES, and HAUNTED WHARF: ETHEL AND THE MERMAN. I recently completed a TV pilot called CRACK THE WHIP. I was a 2019 Green Room Fellow and co-led the Green Room with Arthur Rains-McNally from 2020 - 2023. I will be back to co-lead The Green Room with Joey Johnson in 2024! In 2019 CRACK THE WHIP was selected for a staged reading at the Seattle International Film Festival. I was also a winner in the Seattle Film Summit with my pilot script for 38 MINUTES.
I wrote and produced the TV comedy A BROAD ABROAD. We filmed our pilot in Tuscany, Italy in April 2023, directed by Debra Pralle, produced by Angela DiMarco and Kira Sipler. And it looks amazing! We plan to turn this thing into an episodic series. I recently produced the feature documentary THE RIVER, which is a film about homelessness in Aberdeen, Washington. I was an associate producer for the documentary feature GOLD BALLS, which profiles five US tennis champions who are all over the age of 80. GOLD BALLS was selected for the 2016 Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) and we sold out both of our premiere screenings! It screened at 16 festivals in the US and abroad. GOLD BALLS screened on Alaska and Virgin Airlines in 2018, and screened on PBS television in 2020.
I wrote and directed my short film DATE STORIES, which was selected for the Northwest Film Forum's Local Sightings Film Festival in 2014, and for STIFF in 2015. Date Stories screened at the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival in 2016.
I've also worked as a producer on the short films WYATT STEPS OUT, CONVICTED, MOO, and PEARL. WYATT STEPS OUT was selected for the 2013 Northwest Film Forum's Local Sightings Film Festival. MOOO and CONVICTED were both selected for the 2014 Seattle True Independent Film Festival (STIFF). PEARL won Best Short Film at the Milan and the Mexico International Film Festival, and was selected for the Madrid International Film Festival in 2015.
I am proud to be married to Clint Olson, and to be a stepmom to Sam and Georgia. I was recently the marketing manager at Pratt Fine Arts Center, which inspired me with amazing art and artists. I started working full time as a writer and filmmaker in January 2019. I love to travel, and enjoy reading and salsa dancing. I am a bus commuter, and find some of my best story ideas by observing and listening to my fellow bus riders.
